History
The girlfriend of Nick Terry, the wartime hero known as the Owl, Belle Wayne tired of watching her paramour risk his life alone, and thus adopted the guise of Owl Girl so that she could stay by his side. Together, they kept the streets of Yorktown safe.
At one point, Belle attempted to take some initiative, tracking down the serial murderer Teddy Winston on her own, but Winston was far stronger than she suspected, and nearly killed her. Thankfully, the Owl intervened and saved her life.
Sometime after World War II, the hero Fighting Yank became convinced that he could end all war and strife by rounding up all superheroes and trapping them inside the Urn. The Owl was among the many victims of this misguided plan, and became trapped within the Urn for five decades.
Belle was spared this fate, and soon found a new lover. She married him and had a daughter, who in turn grew up, married, and had a daughter, Megan. Belle looked forward to her later years.
Alas, tragedy struck when Belle's daughter and son-in-law were killed during a bank robbery, leaving Megan an orphan. Unable to bear seeing her granddaughter's grief and rage, Belle revealed her past as Owl Girl, inspiring Megan to take up the mantle for herself.
