History
When her boyfriend Gary Preston was injured, Linda Dale learned that he was the superhero known as the Flame, and soon gained powers similar to his. Together, they fought crime in the 1940s, until Preston apparently died in the battle at Kokura. In reality, he had become the first superpower to be trapped by Fighting Yank. Shortly afterwards, during Preston's funeral, the Yank took Linda aside, ostensibly to offer up comforting words. She then became trapped in the Urn as well.
Over sixty years later, the Urn was destroyed, and Linda was freed. Unfortunately for her, she fell into the hands of Mrs. Octopus, the widow of one of the Flame's old foes, who blamed him for her husband's death. She thus took out her anger on Linda, torturing her for a time before handing her over to Captain Future, who claimed that she and the Flame had received their powers from the fire stolen from Olympus, and thus her power was rightfully his.
